Tomb Raider (2013)
Tomb Raider was built around the idea of putting a female character like Lara Croft on adventures like those of Indiana Jones. But the thing about Indiana Jones is that fighting was never his best skill. The journey, not the action, was the most important part of the story.
Even though there were still a lot of places to go and tasks to solve, the 2013 Tomb Raider game focused too much on the action side of things. There was too much fighting for a game that was meant to be about journey and solving puzzles. In previous games, Lara mostly faced animals, but now that there are more enemies, some fans feel like the game is more of a third-person shooter than an adventure game.
Horizon: Forbidden West
Horizon: Zero Dawn put players in a world that had been taken over by robots. Still, the game managed to be an open-world RPG with a lot of things to pay attention to. Horizon: Forbidden West, the game that came after Zero Dawn, changed the focus a bit, which made players unhappy.
In the sequel, there is not only more fighting, but it also feels a bit more forced. If someone doesn’t like fighting, there’s too much of it, which takes away from the game’s other good points. Even though this hasn’t stopped many fans from buying the games, Guerrilla Games needs to fix it for any future games.
Skyrim is one of the most popular video games of all time. And it would be too much to say that it has big problems that its many fans can’t handle. But the focus on almost constant fighting, especially in dungeons, has been hard for gamers to get used to in the more than ten years since the game came out.
Skyrim has too much fighting, which sometimes makes it more like an action game than an RPG. Early in the game, players have trouble with how many enemies there are. But as the game goes on, the constant enemies become more of a nuisance than a task. Still, Happy Wheels is an amazing game that will be recognized for a lot of great things.
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla
From the beginning, the Assassin’s Creed games have always put a lot of emphasis on the fights. But the games have changed since they stopped focusing on stealth and started focusing on being busy, open-world RPGs instead.
Some fans of the series are upset by this big change in style. Many people like the style of games like Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. But others think that the amount of fighting and lack of a focus on stealth have changed the series too much and made the games feel much less interesting.
Cuphead
Cuphead is a run-and-gun game that is hard to play in the same way that the Dark Souls games are hard. Even though all of these games are about tough battles. Cuphead has too many bosses too quickly, and it takes too long to beat them.
Cuphead is a fun boss rush game with a great task that is worth trying to finish. But it’s too bad that a game with so much fun animation based on newspaper strips from the 1920s and ’30s couldn’t have more than just fighting. Still, this is what the project turned out to be in the end, which is fine. Maybe one day there will be another game with a similar look that is more of an adventure game.
Rambo: The Video Game
The video game Rambo: The Video Game came out in 2014. It confused and upset a lot of gamers, who thought the brand deserved more from a video game adaptation. As a rail-shooter game with nothing but fighting. Many people thought the franchise was ready for an open-world jungle survival game.
Instead of making something that would make Rambo fans feel like they were in Rambo’s world. It seems like the game just added as much fighting as it could. The game was hated when it came out. And no one has tried to get into the Rambo world through games since.
Alone In The Dark: Illumination
Fans say that the survival horror genre was started by the TV show Alone in the Dark. The first game came out in 1992, a long time before Resident Evil. But Alone in the Dark: Illumination made a mistake that is common in survival horror games. It took the series and added a lot of fighting.
The first game in the series that was made to be played online was Illumination. Players were supposed to work together to solve a mystery, but because some players had magical powers and the game focused too much on fighting and seemed to try to copy Left 4 Dead 2, it was a total failure and helped end the series until the recent reboot tried to bring it back.
