Throw Projectiles Back At Enemies
In Tears of the Kingdom, Stone Taluses and Boss Bokoblins are two of the enemies that will throw big rocks at you. If you pull the trigger fast enough when you use Recall, you can send these rocks back at them. This will stun Stone Taluses long enough for you to run under them and use ascend to get up to their weak point.
You can use this strategy to hurt Boss Bokoblins with their own weapons. Even though you could get hit if you aren’t quick enough to use Recall, this method is safer than charging in head first and forces you to think about battle in a new way.
Cheat At Mini-Games
Sure, your first thought might be to just use Ultrahand for a lot of minigames, like the training minigame next to Cuho Mountain in Hebra or the Sandseal Plush Pick-up minigame. You’re still using the game’s mechanic, but if you chose Recall instead, things would be easy.
Coaxing an object back into place or back in time, as Sonia says in a Dragon Tear memory, means that you are changing its position. You can stop this at any time by canceling your Recall. This is a lot easier than trying to catch things in flight and drop them into the goal before you have to get the next one.
You can even get record times if you can switch between Ultrahand and Recall quickly enough.
Skip Through Most Of A Shrine
Even though you can’t cheat your way through every shrine in Tears of the Kingdom by using Recall, there are a few that are much easier to get through if you use both Recall and Ultrahand.
You can skip most of the shrine if you use Ultrahand to pick up a platform and move it to where you need to go before putting it back down at your feet. Then, you can stand on the platform and use Recall on it.
Together, these two features make it easier to solve shrines. It might not be the “intended” way to do it, but it works just as well (if not better) and you still get paid for it.
Take Black And White Photos
Tears of the Kingdom is a beautiful and colorful game, but sometimes you might want to use something a little more retro or highlight Link in the scenery. To do this, you can drop something on the screen and move it around for a long enough time to keep Recall busy.
Once Recall is turned on for that item, the world, with the exception of Link, will turn black and white, and you’ll be able to take some cool and unusual pictures. Pin them up in your home’s art room or anywhere else you can hang pictures, like the Gerudo Canyon Stable.
Stalling Momentum In Flight
Recall is a great move to use if you need to stop flying while you wait for the Light Dragon to get close, or if you want to land in a very specific spot. It will keep you in the same place and time for a long time and, in general, at the same level.
If you’re riding something like a Hover Bike, it will stop the fans in the air so you don’t have to get off the Steering Stick and end up flying. Chances are, you’ll only need to use this skill in very specific situations. However, knowing that you have the choice and that it’s in your wheelhouse will help you see what else is possible.
Take To The Skies
Tears of the Kingdom’s physics can be a little tricky at times, and with the right placement and saved kinetic energy, you can do some really crazy things without even touching a Zonai device. Put a square piece of wood on the end of a wooden stick and throw it over the edge of a long, rectangular piece of wood.
With Recall, stop time for a moment, and then switch to Ultrahand to grab your plank-spear and fuse it to the rectangle panel. Then, you can jump onto the rectangular panel. If you did it right, you can use Recall on the spear to make the whole fusion lift off the ground and send you higher than a Skyview tower can go.
If you do this in Tunnel Rush, you might reach the game’s height limit. It may take a few tries to get this right, but it is possible.
Retrieve Fallen Items Before They Despawn
Recall has a ridiculous range, so if you accidentally throw something off a hill or watch your diamonds or monster parts fall into the Depths, you might be able to catch it if you use Recall well enough.
When you use it, time stops long enough for you to move the crosshair over your falling item. Then, all you have to do is wait for it to come back to you so you can grab it with Ultrahand (if you need to). Just try to grab the item before it gets too far away, or it might disappear and you won’t be able to do much about that.
